Capacity Building means partnering and training. AFRICA PHYSICAL HANDICAPPED INITIATITVIES DEVELOPMENT -“Showdoman Foundation"- does not believe it is sustainable or cost effective to give a man a fish: rather that is better to give a man a rod and to teach him to fish for himself. Capacity Building means working with communities so they have the tools to help themselves.
Building the community's skills is a priority for AFRICA HANDICAPPED INITIATITVIES DEVELOPMENT -“Showdoman Foundation"-. We pioneered training for primary community based healthcare. In the past year we trained over 34 health workers who in turn have trained tens of thousands more at community and village levels.
Capacity building being an essential component within AFRICA PHYSICAL HANDICAPPED INITIATITVIES DEVELOPMENT programmes, it will also be part of the Kinshasa/Oriental province Programme in 2007-8. The strengthening of national staffs’ capacities remains essential in order to enhance their professionalism and provide them with valuable compounded knowledge. The overall running of the programme can only benefit from such human investment and as such, every suitable opportunity for training should be seized. AFRICA PHYSICAL HANDICAPPED INITIATITVIES DEVELOPMENT "SDMF"’s training programme 2007-8, aiming to dispatch 6 -8 of nurses, occupational therapists to US for inter-sponsorship programme in California with Relief work agencies further their skills.
